Swingology
Swingology are a Gypsy Jazz trio usually consisting of two guitarists and a double bass player giving a unique sound of 1940s Parisian Swing. The music is classy and romantic, exciting but also atmospheric and it’s the perfect antidote to the classical string quartet. Swingology played on the front lawn of Pentillie Castle with the amazing backdrop of the Tamar valley.
So get yourself a glass of champagne, enjoy the view and wile away the afternoon. For more information visit www.swingology.net.
Cornish Jam
Following a morning of furious racing, Cornish Jam will be on hand to provide your ears some much needed respite. Cornish Jam are a local band with local members who will play an eclectic mix of gypsy jazz and blues.
Cornish Jam accepted no payment for their attendance at the event and instead asked Pentillie Festival of Speed to donate their costs to the event charity.
Drake’s Den Playbus
Drake’s Den of Plymouth brought along the playbus for children to scramble around and play in the jungle of the soft interior.
With a slide, ramps and climbing nets children hopefully lost some of their endless energy!
Drake’s Den also supplied a bouncy castle and facepainting for the event.

Roger Grace Model Yachts
Roger Grace started collecting and restoring Vintage Model Yachts 12 years ago. After spending many years sailing dinghies and yachts he found that with age creeping on something smaller was required.
The A Class yacht pictured was rescued from a bonfire which Roger restored with help from the Vintage Model Yacht Group www.vmyg.ord.uk. Since then Roger’s collection has grown to included an 1800s Gaff Cutter, small Star Yachts and a Bowman steam launch.
4×4 off-road driving
In conjunction with Land Rover Experience Westcountry and Roger Young Land Rover, we offered 4×4 demonstrations and an opportunity for visitors to drive them around the Pentillie Estate.

Giant Scalextric
An amazing giant 6-lane track. Most of us will be used to playing on a 2-lane track, so this offered something completely different.
Simulators
It’s as close as you’ll get to the real thing.
Children (and adults!) put their Formula One driving skils to the test in this simulator and two other linked chassis simulators Visitors could also try two Moto GP simulators allowing them to race head to head.
Dave Naylor – Scalextric Display
Having collected Scalextric since a young boy in the 60s, Dave’s collection is now in excess of 250 vehicles, comprising of cars, artic-lorries, trucks, police, motorbikes and side cars. Dave also has many of the buildings that have been released by Scalextric over the years, as well as all the Scalextric catalogues made since they started in 1957. To demonstrate the collection, an analogue and digital track layout will also be on display.
Launceston & North Cornwall Motor Club
Sporting trials take place off road, in very steep muddy fields and woodland. The aim of a sporting trial is to progress as far through a section of course as possible before either stopping or hitting a course marker. The cars were on display throughout the event, navigating the steep Pentillie paddock, demonstrating the cars and drivers skill on the almost impossible terrain.
For more information on sporting trials, visit www.btrda.com, www.sportingtrials.com or www.lncmc.co.uk.
Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting
Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting is an electronic way of enjoying traditional clay pigeon shooting.
Real shotguns have been adapted to fire harmless infrared beams at targets which fly through the air in the traditional way, launched from an electronic launcher.
The guns are converted shotguns so they look and feel real.
The result is a highly competitive and enjoyable game. Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting is safe, mobile and environment friendly. But more than anything it’s great fun!

Archery
Archery is now a much more civilised past-time compared to its olden day use of attacking enemy soldiers. Now a recognised Olympic sport enjoyed by millions across the globe, archery is a growing, fun pastime, where individuals aim at the bullseye rather than each other.
Challenge your mates to see who’s got the deadliest aim or simply embrace the thrill of propelling a sharpened arrow at incredible speeds with pinpoint accuracy. From kids to pensioners it’s a great way to improve hand-eye coordination and try a different experience at the same time.
